What Were the Names of Hercules’ Children?

There are over 100 children listed as belonging to Hercules, including Therimachus, Creontiades, Ophitus, Deicoon, Agelaus, Telephus, Hyllis, Sophax, Macaria and Eucleia. Hercules is the Roman equivalent of the Greek hero Heracles. Heracles killed his children by Megara in a fit of madness brought on by Hera.
Heracles was the son of the god Zeus and the mortal woman Alcmene. His existence proved Zeus’ infidelity and this angered Hera, the wife and sister of Zeus. After Heracles killed his children, he was required to atone by performing 12 labors for his enemy, Eurystheus. The labors were:
- Slay the Nemean lion
- Slay the Lernaean Hydra
- Capture the Ceryneian Hind
- Capture the Erymanthian Boar
- Clean the Augean stables
- Slay the Stymphalian Bird
- Capture the Cretan Bull
- Steal the Mares of Diomedes
- Obtain Hippolyta’s Girdle
- Obtain Geryon’s Cattle
- Steal the Apples of the Hesperides
- Capture Cerberus
