The starter relay on a Ford vehicle can be located by following the positive cable from the car battery. It is normally present on the passenger side of the engine block, toward the transmission bell housing.
The starter relay plays a very important role in providing power to the starter that makes the ignition turn on. There are specific instructions necessary to locate the starter relay.
- Open the hood after turning the engine off and placing the car in park.
- Find the fuse box, which is normally located above the fender well on the passenger side of the Ford.
- Unlock the fuse box by unclasping the two clips on the ends that keep the lid on.
- Look for a part marked as “starter relay.” It is most likely to be present on the first row of the relays.
