Volvo Car Corporation is a Swedish premium automobile manufacturer headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. As of 2014, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of China owns the company.
Volvo was founded in 1927 and was first listed on the Swedish stock market exchange in 1935. Volvo was owned by AB Volvo until 1999, when it was acquired by the Ford Motor Company. Ford sold the company to the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in 2010.
Volvo manufactures and markets sedans, station wagons, sport utility vehicles, compact executive sedans and coupes. It has approximately 2,300 local dealers and 100 national sales companies worldwide. Volvo’s largest markets are the United States, Sweden, China, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
