VIZIO televisions are made directly by the VIZIO company. VIZIO was known as GreenDane when they first opened in 2002 with three employees at the Irvine, California.

VIZIO is well known for pricing their product aggressively against the more well-known companies. This has allowed the company to up their income from the start of $600,000 in 2002 to $700 million by the year 2006. Since 2006, the company has shown profits of more than $2 billion. The company promotes its products as based on making things function under what is considered smart features, basing them on what is relevant for their customers. Their products are designed according to research into customer interests in particular functions. VIZIO has expanded from the United States market to also provide their products to the Canadian market and China. Along with televisions, VIZIO produces a number of other devices. The company produces tablets, an Ultrabook. notebooks and Android-based smartphones. The Via phones have only been released in the Asian market, and have full 1080p with a 4.7-inch screen. The company paired with Google to make the VIZIO Co-Star, but the television was met with low results. Vizio also produces a sound bar as an add on for their television units.
