What Is the VIN Location on a Yamaha ATV?

Locations may vary on different models, but all Yamaha ATV numbers will be on a plate mounted somewhere on the frame, usually the bottom. All VIN, or vehicle identification number, codes consist of 17 letters.

The VIN should not be confused with an engine number, which would be on the actual engine. Each VIN is actually a code that represents a different identifying aspect of that particular vehicle. For example, the first digit or letter represents the country in which the ATV was manufactured. The numerals 1 through 4 signify it was made in the United States, 2 is for Canada, J is for Japan and K is for Korea. Some digits are coded differently by manufacturer, but they are consistent in which position they are coded in the sequence.
