Are the Vicks Nasal Inhalers Safe for Use During Pregnancy or While Breastfeeding?

Vicks nasal inhalers are safe for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, according to most obstetricians. However, it is important to consult a doctor before using any type of medication while pregnant or breastfeeding, explains BabyMed.
Obstetricians consider saline-only nasal sprays the safest to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Women should only use the medicines in three-day increments to limit excessive drug intake during pregnancy. Topical or nasal spray decongestants such as Afrin constrict blood flow in the patient and may cause harm to the unborn baby during pregnancy or pass to the infant through breast feeding, reports Pregnancy.org.
