Depending on the condition of the coin, the 1925 Stone Mountain half dollar is worth anywhere from $37.50 to $23,000 as of 2014. The melt value is $6.75.
The 1925 Stone Mountain half dollar was created to help raise money for the stone-carved memorial of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson on the side of Stone Mountain. The coin depicts both Lee and Jackson on horseback, and there is an eagle on the reverse side.
Although 5 million of the Stone Mountain half dollars were authorized to be minted, only 2.3 million were made. Since then, 1 million of these coins have been melted down.
