How Do You Use a Zote Laundry Soap Bar?
To wash clothes by hand with a Zote laundry soap bar, rub the bar against the water-soaked fabric to create a good amount of lather. To remove difficult stains, first prepare liquid soap from the Zote bar.
To prepare the liquid formula to clean a tough stain, place the soap bar in a saucepan, and cover it with water before bringing it to a boil. While stirring occasionally, let the mixture boil until it thickens. Then, apply this solution directly to the garment stain before placing the garment in the sun until the solution dries into a hard paste. At this point, remove the paste, which the stain should have adhered to.
To use Zote as a clothing whitener, grate the Zote bar with a cheese grater, and add it to the washing machine at the same time as the laundry detergent. Zote also softens towels when added at the end of the wash cycle. This works best by placing a chunk of the bar in a sealed sock or fabric bag.
Zote can also be used for non-cleaning purposes. For example, pink Zote works well as fishing bait for catfish, and because Zote contains citronella, it works well as a mosquito repellent. Zote also functions as a bleaching agent because it contains an optical brightener, the compound that makes fabric bright. The main ingredients of Zote are beef tallow and coconut oil.
