How Do You Unlock a Prepaid TracFone?
Unlock a prepaid Tracfone for the first time by activating it through the Tracfone website. Unlock a prepaid Tracfone that is disabled by contacting Tracfone technical support through their website.

Activate the phone
On the main page of the Tracfone website, click on the orange tag that says Activate Phone. Select the option Activate My Tracfone With a New Number. Create an account by entering the serial number or phone number of the new phone, your email address, your date of birth, a password and the answer to a security question. Alternatively, skip registration and enter the phone’s call number or serial number only. Click Submit.

Test the phone
Activation is often instantaneous, but sometimes it takes up to 24 hours. Perform a test call by powering up the phone and calling it from a landline house phone or pay phone within your local area. Afterward, perform a second test by calling the landline phone from your Tracfone. If the phone is not yet active, wait 24 hours and try the tests again.

Contact technical support for troubleshooting
If someone tries to enter an incorrect code more than three times, a prepaid Tracfone locks up and displays “prepaid disabled” or “unit disabled.” If this happens, go to the Tracfone website main page, click on Support and then Technical Support. Enter the serial number of the phone, and follow instructions to unlock it.
