How Do You Unblock Blocked URLs?

Unblock a blocked URL by using a proxy server, a translation service or an IP address. Though these services can help unblock a URL, they may not work 100 percent effectively depending on the efforts a school, government office or business took to block the website.

  1. Use a proxy server

Search online for a proxy server, and visit the URL. Type the name of the blocked URL in the proxy, and press the Enter key. Proxy servers may slow down your browsing experience or include pop-ups that can affect your system, so read reviews on the most helpful proxy servers available.

  2. Use a translation service

Use the Translate From option in an online translator. Set the translator to Auto Detect and the Translate To option as English. Enter the URL, and click Translate.

  3. Access the URL via an IP address

Open the Command Prompt on your computer. On Windows, click the Start button, and type “cmd” in the search field. Click the Command Prompt. Type “nslookup [domain name]” in the prompt. Press Enter to view a list of IP addresses associated with the domain name. Type one of the IP addresses in your Web browser. This option only works if the business or school blocks the host name and not the IP address.
