How Do You Unblock Accidentally Blocked E-Mail?

To unblock accidentally blocked e-mail, the user should locate the “Settings” menu in his or her e-mail client, then access the list of blocked e-mail addresses and remove the address in question. Depending on the e-mail client, the previously-blocked e-mails might appear in the inbox, deleted mail folder or junk (spam) mail folder.

Blocking an e-mail address prevents the user from seeing e-mails sent by the person associated with that address. Unblocking that address simply reverses the procedure.

Step 1: Access the “Settings” menu

The “Settings” or “Mail Settings” location varies depending on the e-mail client. In AOL e-mail, for example, it is located by clicking on the user’s address, selecting “Options,” then selecting “Mail Settings.” Blocked e-mail addresses are listed under the “Spam Filter” settings.

Step 2: Remove the block

Remove the e-mail address from the blocked list by deleting it or un-selecting the checkbox or radio box next to it. Afterward, e-mails sent from that address will appear in the user’s inbox like normal.

Step 3: Check all mail folders

If the user has received mail from the unblocked address, he or she can locate it in the inbox, spam folder or deleted-mail folder. In some cases, blocked e-mails are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. This often depends on the length of time since the e-mail was sent.
