Tudor plate is a type of plated silver flatware produced by the Oneida Community in the 19th and 20th centuries. The company is now known as Oneida Limited.
The Oneida Community was a Utopian commune founded in 1848 by John Humphrey Noyes. The community also functioned as a company and produced several types of goods, including animal traps, chains and silk items. When the community failed, the company faced financial troubles until P.B. Noyes, son of founder John Noyes, rejoined the company in 1894. Noyes was influential in growing the company and turning it into a leading flatware manufacturer. In 1935, Noyes ceded control of the company, and it was renamed Oneida Limited.
