How Do You Troubleshoot an LG TV?

LG/CC-BY 2.0

Troubleshoot an LG TV by checking for common issues such as screen freezing, powering off and blurry pictures. While examining these issues, look for more complex problems that require fixing.

If the LG television is showing blurry pictures, check to be sure that all cables are firmly connected to the television. Loose cables can make the video appear out of focus or appear blurry. If necessary, fix the loose cables by securing them once again to the TV set.

If the television screen freezes as the program continues, reboot the television by powering it off and unplugging it from the wall power socket. Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back into the wall socket, and then switch it on again. Then, the television will reboot and review its normal programs.

If the television screen keeps powering itself off and lasts for a few seconds or minutes before powering itself on again, the cable or satellite box might not be outputting a signal. Test the cable’s output signal by pressing the info or guide button on the remote. If the screen does not display the guide, change the TV’s source. If it displays the guide, the cable signal output might be defective and should be replaced.
