Transmission fluid and transaxle fluid are the same thing. On average, someone should flush their transmission and change the fluid, every 2 years, or every 30,000 miles, whichever comes first.
There are certain symptoms that occur when someone needs to change their transmission fluid. These symptoms commonly include difficulty when trying to shift gears, strange noises or a grinding noise coming from the transmission, the vehicle surging, gears slipping and delays in the movement of the vehicle. This fluid plays a critical role in lubricating the components that move in a transmission. It also serves as a coolant in automatic transmissions.
