The top three best tire brands in North America as of March 2015 were Michelin, Continental and Goodyear, according to consumer review organization Consumer Reports. Hankook, Yokohama and Nokian were also named as top brands, as were Cooper and Kumho. Dunlop and General are two additional highly regarded brands.

The top 10 tire manufacturers have different strengths and weaknesses in their product lines, with some companies having better performance tire options while others offer better tires for everyday driving. Continental and Michelin produce some of the best-performing all-season tires for passenger cars. The Continental ContiProContact tire line has been praised as the best tire on the market by review website BestReviews.com, while many automotive publications such as MotorTrend praise the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 as the top all-season performer. Goodyear and Kumho are considered to produce some of the tires with the best price-to-performance ratio, such as the Goodyear Eagle LS and the Hankook Optimo H724.

Some of the best tire companies are specialists in specific niches. One notable example is in the arena of snow tires, where Finnish company Nokian is widely considered the leading manufacturer. Similarly, Cooper’s SUV and truck tire lines are particularly impressive in comparison to tires from other manufacturers.
