Any type of beer mixed with tomato juice is called a Red Eye or a Bloody Beer. A Chavela is a Mexican alcoholic beverage that calls for beer, tomato juice, tequila, salt and hot sauce.
All types of tomato juice and beer drinks can be customized to fit an individual’s tastes. Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, celery seed, fennel, pickled green beans, crushed red pepper, kosher salt and lime juice are all add-in options that give the drinks varying flavor profiles.
Many people also salt the rim of a Red Eye, Bloody Beer or Chavela glass by rubbing lime juice around the rim and dipping it into kosher salt.
