The novel “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” is set in the present-day. The setting is based around the main character Greg Heffley, who narrates the story. Events take place in Heffley’s home, middle school and neighborhood. As the series progresses, the setting changes but remains in the present-day.
At first, the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series began as a web comic written by Jeff Kinney in 2004. After receiving millions of online views, the comic was released as a hardcover book in 2007. Since its first release, the series has spawned nine books chronicling the life of Greg Heffley and five supplementary activity books.
