Universal Studios does not have a stock symbol. It is part of Comcast Corporation, whose common stock is designated CMCSA. It trades on the NASDAQ exchange, according to Comcast.
Universal Studios and the National Broadcasting Company had their origins in the early years of the 20th century. After long runs, Universal in movies and NBC in television, they merged to form NBCUniversal in 2004. During 2009, General Electric, the parent company of NBCUniversal, came to an agreement with Comcast Corporation. Comcast created a new division for its cable and regional sports stations and GE contributed NBCUniversal. Comcast manages the division and is the majority owner in the joint venture, according to a Comcast press release.
