What Are Some Theories About Why Judy Crowell Left QVC?
Judy Crowell allegedly left QCV because of her marriage with her colleague of six years at QVC, Paul Deasy in 2003. Together, they accepted hosting positions at HSN, the Home Shopping Network, and relocated to broadcast from their studios in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Before Paul Deasy, Judy Crowell was married to her ex-colleague Jeffrey Hewson. The two QCV hosts got married in April 1992, and three months later Hewson filed a divorce and left QCV. According to Kathy Levine’s biography “It’s Better to Laugh…,” Hewson asked for a divorce right before Judy Crowell was about to go on the air. Crowell called Kathy and was advised to not cry and keep hosting the show as professionally as she could. Later on, Hewson sold his story to the National Enquirer, claiming that he quit QCV because of his jealous ex-wife Judy Crowell. He also claimed that immediately after the split, Crowell began spreading vicious rumors that he was gay and had a serious drinking problem. Judy Crowell has never made any comments on her ex-husband’s accusations. Finally, Judy Crowell and Paul Deasy both decided to leave HSN. Deasy exited in December 2007, while Crowell left in April 2008. As of 2015, the couple are working for a different home shopping network, ShopNBC.
Judy Crowell was born on April 1 in Tokyo, Japan. As she is the child of an army father, Crowell grew up in four different countries and 12 different states. She attended high schools in Virginia and Germany before graduating from an international high school in Belgium. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Florida State University. Before joining the televised shopping industry, Judy worked in electronic journalism.
