The temperature of hot tap water should be around 50 degrees Celsius. For cold tap water, the temperature is roughly 7 degrees Celsius. These temperatures are estimates and vary according to season and geographical location.

The water stored in natural reservoirs tends to have a lower temperature, especially in the winter. Underground water is usually warmer as the heat of the Earth warms the water. Tap water is a lot warmer in places located along the equatorial belt. In cold climates such as Canada, the average temperature of tap water is lower.
