There is no telephone country code “97,” however there are several telephone country codes that begin or end with these numbers. The countries with codes beginning with "97" are primarily in the Middle East.
It is necessary to dial the country code before the telephone number when making long-distance calls to family, friends or business associates. The country code for West Bank and Gaza Strip is 970. Dial 971 before calling the United Arab Emirates, 972 prior to numbers in Israel and 973 preceding calls placed to Bahrain. Qatar’s country code is 974, Bhutan’s is 975, Nepal’s is 977 and Mongolia’s is 976. Countries whose codes end in 97 include Suriname (597) and Aruba (297).
