How Tall Are Cell Phone Towers?

The Federal Communications Commission states, “Cellular or PCS cell site towers are typically 50-200 feet high.” Cell phone towers can exist as stand-alone structures, or an antenna can be attached to water towers or the roofs of buildings.

The increased use of wireless devices has led to increased demand for faster, more powerful data networks. Each cell phone tower has a limited number of calls that it can handle at one time, so more and more towers and antennas must be built. Many governments require the cell phone companies to first check the proposed area for suitable structures that could be used instead of building a new tower.
