According to the Professional Bull Riders, Inc., the average height of a “top-ranked” bull rider is 5 feet 10 inches as of 2014. Bull rider Tanner Byrne is reported to be 6 feet 4 inches tall, which is 6 inches taller than average.

PBR bills itself as “the toughest sport on dirt.” The organization was founded in Colorado in 1992 when a group of 20 bull riders each invested $1,000. The investors felt that bull riding could break away from traditional rodeo and easily stand on its own. In 2007, the interests of many of the founding investors were acquired by Spire Capital for a sum that was reportedly thousands of times their initial investment.
