What Are the Symptoms of a Bad Throttle Body?

One of the most common symptoms of a bad throttle body, or throttle position sensor, according to Reference, is when the car either hesitates to accelerate or stumbles during acceleration. If there seems to be just a bit of a delay between the time you push on the gas pedal and the time it takes for the car to go, a bad throttle body could be the cause.

One symptom of a throttle body going bad is if the vehicle stalls at any time either when starting the engine or driving the vehicle.

Although there may be other reasons for the check engine light to come on, this could be another symptom of a bad throttle body. Every time the check engine light comes on, the owner of the vehicle should always check for problems with the car or take it to an experienced mechanic.

Some of the causes of a bad throttle body include a bad ground, an open circuit, possibly too much resistance in the circuit, or even a loose connection. If any of these problems are suspected, speak to an experienced mechanic as soon as possible to have the throttle body checked and repaired so that you can get back on the road safely.
