Swarovski crystals are machine-cut crystal beads made in Austria. Daniel Swarovski developed the formula in the 1800s. Swarovski crystals are silver in color and are used in necklaces, rings, watches, earrings and bracelets.
Even though Swarovski crystals are not naturally formed, they appear to be made of real metal because of their shining, silver color. Swarovski’s original formula created lead glass crystals, which are still made today. In Swarovski’s process, natural minerals were combined with quartz sand and then cooled, carefully cut with precision tools and polished. All Swarovski crystals have exactly the same dimensions and surface luster, and they should have no imperfections.
