What Is the Survival Rate for Cecum Cancer?

The five-year survival rate for localized cancer of the cecum is 68 percent, according to the American Cancer Society. The survival rate for cecum cancer with regional spread is 71 percent, and the survival rate for cecum cancer with distant spread if 54 percent, as of 2015.

Researchers compile survival rates based on observed survival of a large number of people diagnosed with cecum cancer, notes the American Cancer Society. Several factors affect an individual’s prognosis following diagnosis, including the growth rate of the tumor, the tumor’s grade and location, the type of treatment given, and the patient’s overall health and age.
