A survey of calculus class generally includes teaching the primary computational techniques and concepts of calculus. The exact curriculum in the class ultimately depends on the school someone attends.
The general concepts that people learn in a basic calculus class include limits, indefinite and definite integrals and derivatives. The primary computational techniques students learn include differentiation formulas, integration rules, derivative of standard functions and the fundamental theorem of calculus. The derivative formulas typically include the chain rule, product rule and quotient rule. Students typically take survey of calculus after taking a precalculus class, but not all schools require this prerequisite.
