Egg roll wrappers are a suitable substitute for wonton wrappers. Wonton wrappers are thin pieces of dough that are shaped in a circle or square. They are usually available for purchase in grocery stores or Asian food markets.
Homemade wonton wrappers can be prepared by beating an egg, 3/4 teaspoons salt and 1/4 cup water together. This mixture should be added to 2 cups of sifted flour and mixed well. More water may be added as needed to form the dough. The dough should then be kneaded until smooth. After allowing the dough to rest for 30 minutes, it may be rolled into a thin layer and cut to the desired shape and size.
