When Is the Strawberry Season in California?
Last Updated Mar 29, 2020 2:11:34 PM ET

The typical strawberry season in Southern and Central California lasts from January to September. As a rule, the strawberry harvest is at its peak in the middle of April and ends in late June.
California is responsible for most of the strawberry crop in the United States. The state averages close to 1.7 billion pounds of strawberry production every year and ships to all 50 states as well as to international markets. Only 400 families harvest the majority of the strawberry crop. During droughts, California farmers face many difficulties in growing strawberries, which in turn causes the price of this prized fruit to go up.
