What Stores Sell Blue Bell Ice Cream?

According to a Las Vegas press release announcing Blue Bell’s entrance into the market, Blue Bell ice cream can be found at Albertsons, Food 4 Less, Glaziers Food Marketplace, Smith’s, Walgreens, Walmart, and at many independent supermarkets, drugstores and convenience stores. Blue Bell is the third most popular brand of ice cream, despite only being sold in 23 states, or 30 percent of the total market.

Blue Bell began in 1907 as Brenham Creamery Company, a company founded to produce butter from the extra cream brought in by area farmers around Brenham, Texas. It was years later that the company began producing ice cream and delivering to neighbors by horse and wagon. Blue Bell still distributes today by delivering orders directly to the retail stores.

In 1930, Brenham Creamery Company changed its name to Blue Bell in honor of the native Texas wildflower bluebell. Blue Bell is available in all parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and in some parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado and Wyoming. Outside of these states, Blue Bell does not distribute due to its commitment to a Direct Selling Distribution method.
