For scientific purposes, the standard room temperature is between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius, with an average temperature of 23 degrees Celsius or 73.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Room temperature is important to monitor in regards to the care of infants and the elderly, when storing food and perishables, and when caring for indoor plants and animals.
