What Are Standard Driveway Lengths and Widths?

The standard driveway length for a single-car driveway is 18 to 20 feet long and the standard width is 10 to 12 feet wide. A two-car driveway where the cars are parked side-by-side needs to be 18 to 20 feet wide and 18 to 20 feet long.

A width of 10 feet is considered the minimum, and a wider driveway allows individuals to exit the vehicle without stepping on the lawn or garden beds. While these are standard measurements, additional space is recommended if structures are near the driveway, such as a retaining wall that lines the property. Homeowners who must park vehicles one behind the other need an additional 18 to 20 feet of length for each extra vehicle.
