When Are SSI Checks Mailed Out?
Supplemental Security Income checks are mailed in time to be delivered on the first of each month. If the first of the month falls on a weekend or a legal public holiday, payment is delivered on the last business day before that.
With rare exceptions, recipients who applied for SSI benefits after March 1, 2013, are required to receive their benefits electronically. Those payments are delivered on the same schedule as mailed payments. Social Security benefit payments are made on a different schedule based on the recipient’s birth date. Those born from the 1st through the 10th of the month receive payment on the second Wednesday of each month, and those born from the 11th through the 20th receive payment on the third Wednesday of each month. Those born on other dates receive payment on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
