The SRS light is the supplemental restraint system warning light. It illuminates when starting a vehicle for a few seconds, and if everything is working properly, it should go out.
If the light remains on, there is something wrong within the SRS. This means that the system is disabled, and the air bags do not deploy on impact nor do seat belts tighten in a collision. The system is computer-controlled and is a passive restraint system; occupants of the vehicle do not need to do anything to activate the system if it is functioning properly. If the SRS warning light stays illuminated, the vehicle should be immediately taken to a vehicle repair shop to diagnose and repair the issue.
