What Is a Sprig of Parsley?

A sprig of parsley is a small piece of the herb. A sprig is generally between 2 and 4 inches long. In a recipe, about 1/2 teaspoon of dried parsley can be substituted for a sprig.

If the parsley is simply being used to flavor a dish and is removed at some point during the cooking process, a sprig is more practical than dried herbs.

WH Foods states that parsley is the world’s most popular herb. Parsley, which is related to celery, gets its name from a Greek word that means “rock celery.” Parsley is high in potassium and vitamin C.
