The Ford 801 Tractor is powered by a four-cylinder, liquid cooled engine that produces a power take off rating of 44 horsepower, and an overall horsepower rating of 67.8. This Ford motor supplies power to the wheels through a “Select O Speed” transmission consisting of eight forward speeds and two reverse gears.
The displacement of the original motor is 172 cubic inches with a compression ratio of 7.5:1 and a bore/stroke of 3.9 inches by 3.6 inches. Later engine configurations included the LP gasoline-powered, 172-cubic-inch four-cylinder motor with a compression ratio of 8.65:1, as well as a four-cylinder diesel fuel engine that ran a 16.8:1 compression ratio.
