It is best to wait at least 24 hours before driving on new asphalt to maintain its clean appearance. If the asphalt is driven on immediately, it causes scuff marks on the surface. If the new asphalt is on a road, it can be driven on immediately.
Some companies recommend waiting three to five days before driving on new asphalt in order to guarantee that it is hardened sufficiently. The longer wait is especially important if the temperature is in excess of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Asphalt does not cure completely for 30 days or longer if the weather is too hot.
