What Is a Simplified Letter Style?

A simplified letter style is a letter format that is professional and focused without unnecessary formality. Compared to full-block and semi-block letter formats, it has fewer internal sections. It is the most commonly used letter style in professional correspondence.

The internal parts of a simplified letter style are placed in left alignment. The salutation is typed in an all-caps subject line, and the body paragraphs are aligned left. Single spacing is used within the paragraphs, and double spacing is used between them. The name and title of the writer are aligned left and typed in all caps below the body of the letter.

A simplified style letter is a variation of the full-block and semi-block formats. It left-justifies each line except for the letterhead or company logo.
