The front of the skateboard is called the nose and is usually the side of the skateboard that is longer and broader. It is also less concave than the tail.
It is possible for a person to quickly figure out which part of the skateboard is the nose and which is the tail by viewing the skateboard when placed on its side. The tail is shorter and narrower or tapered while the nose is flatter and more bottle shaped. This is to aid the skater in performing tricks by giving the foot more leverage to flip and manipulate the board while in the air.
