How Should You Troubleshoot a Craftsman Garage Door Opener?
Troubleshoot a Craftsman garage door opener by checking the batteries, extending the antenna and making sure the receiver is getting power. Also, check to see if there are items covering or blocking the eye or safety sensors. The troubleshooting process takes just a few minutes.
-
Check the batteries
Change the batteries in the opener to see if that works before checking anything else. Do this even if the batteries are somewhat new, as the new batteries may have corrosion or may be defective.
-
Extend the antenna after replacing the batteries
Pull out the antenna, making sure to extend it fully. Try to operate the opener from another position inside the car.
-
Check the power outlet
Unplug the receiver’s cord, and plug in another device, such as a hair dryer, to ensure that the outlet is delivering power.
-
Check the path of the safety sensors
Find the safety sensors located at the bottom of the track. There is one on each side of the door. Look for items that might be blocking the eye, such as toys, tools or paper. Additionally, check the eyes for dirt or anything else that might be preventing the eyes from working, and clean them off.
