How Do You Set a Price for Used Appliances?

Multiple factors can help a seller set a fair price for used appliances, including the age, the level of wear and tear and the local demand for the appliance.

Begin with an evaluation of the appliance, noting any damage from wear and tear. Include any dents or scratches in the sales listing. The listing should include any known problems not visible and any potential costs the new buyer could incur.

To set a reasonable price, compare the appliance to other similar appliances in the local market.

Selling a used appliance is often a negotiation process. The price listed should be the most the seller wants to receive, within reason. For negotiation purposes, the seller should keep in mind the lowest price he is willing to accept.
