As of 2015, some of the brands of septic safe toilet paper include Angel Soft, Coleman, Charmin, Green Forest and Seventh Generation. Other septic safe toilet papers include Camco, Thetford Aqua Soft, Marcal Small Steps Septic Safe and Scott Rapid Dissolving Tissue.
The Charmin website notes that all of the company's toilet papers are considered safe for use in septic systems and are approved by Roto-Rooter plumbing company. All Charmin toilet paper is backed by the company's clog-free guarantee, which states that the company should refund the purchase price of the toilet paper if a customer's toilet clogs due to using Charmin.
The Angel Soft website notes that Angel Soft toilet paper and all other toilet papers manufactured by Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products, such as Quilted Northern Ultra, are safe for use in standard septic and sewer systems.
Scott Rapid Dissolving Tissue is designed specifically for use in septic systems, boats and RVs. The company claims that this toilet paper, which has been tested and approved by the Scott Clog Clinic, dissolves up to four times faster than the leading brands.
Although it is not specifically required for septic systems, Greenpeace recommends that individuals only purchase toilet paper made from recycled paper. Recycled paper toilet tissue generally lessens the total volume of paper in the septic system, which can extend the time between septic system pump outs.
