What Is the Scorpion Motorcycle Club?
The Scorpion Motorcycle Club is an organization that is centered around a shared interest in motorcycles. It has chapters across the United States and calls itself an “MC,” which within the “biker” subculture identifies the club as an “outlaw motorcycle club.”
The organization has chapters in Michigan, Texas, Virginia, California, North Carolina, Illinois and Arkansas. Outlaw motorcycle clubs reject authority and are based on ideals of freedom, nonconformity to mainstream culture and loyalty to the club. There is an association between outlaw motorcycle gangs in general with crime. For example, as of November 2013, Australia bans the Scorpion Motorcycle Club as a “criminal organization.” While some clubs do engage in criminal activity, often this connection is a myth generalized to all clubs.
