Who Is Sally Severson, and When Was She Born?
Sally Severson is an award-winning meteorologist working with WISN Television, as of 2015, and her birthday is on May 6. There is no conclusive information about the year of her birth. She has been on the “12 News This Morning” newscast team from its beginning in 1986. She has covered numerous weather-related disasters across the United States, mainly in Wisconsin, including Hurricane Charley. She worked on the documentary “Street Smart Kids,” and received an Emmy for it in 1999.
Originally from Illinois, Sally Severson majored in English and elementary education from Northern Illinois University. WISN originally hired Severson to computerize the newsroom, and she also served as the assistant to the news director. She was not professionally trained to be a weather forecaster when she was asked to fill in for short weather cut-ins. She went back to school and earned a degree in atmospheric sciences and broadcast meteorology before becoming a full-time professional weather forecaster.
As of 2015, Sally has been married to her husband, Steve, for 30 years. The couple has two children from the marriage: Christine and James. She was inducted into Milwaukee Silver Circle in 2013, which is established by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to recognize and honor individuals who have served and made significant contributions to the television industry for 25 years.
