Is It Safe to Eat Raw Pumpkin?

It is safe to eat raw pumpkin. It may be richer in nutrients than cooked pumpkin as cooking usually strips produce of some vitamins and minerals.

Pumpkin seeds are also edible and are an excellent source of assorted vitamins. They have a low glycemic index and are rich in amino acids and unsaturated fats.

Both pumpkins and pumpkin seeds are considered super-foods and recommended as part of a healthy diet. However, some people are allergic to pumpkins and may have a reaction just from touching the pulp. Even those who are not allergic should only eat them in small quantities at first as the fiber can cause an upset stomach and/or bowel issues if introduced into the diet too rapidly.
