Certain brands of cough drops are considered safe to take during pregnancy. However, it is always advisable to check with a doctor before using any type of medication while pregnant.
According to the Women's Care website, it is safe to take these cough drops during pregnancy:
- Halls Menthol-Cough Suppressant / Oral Anesthetic Plus Medicine
- Ricola Cough Suppressant Throat Drops
- Vicks Menthol Cough Suppressant / Oral Anesthetic Drops
This does not necessarily mean that these are the only brands that are safe to take when a woman is pregnant. A doctor will be able to provide a detailed list of which over the counter medications can safely be used.
