Does Rubbing Alcohol Have an Expiration Date?
Isopropyl alcohol, also known as rubbing alcohol, expires no sooner than two years after opening when properly stored. Proper storage includes a secure, dry container in a cool, well-ventilated area.
Rubbing alcohol is highly flammable and must be kept away from heat and flames. When using, precautions should be taken to prevent spillage, which is a fire hazard. If rubbing alcohol is spilled, it must be mopped up with absorbent material and secured in an enclosed container for disposal. The area should then be thoroughly washed with soap and water to prevent damage. Small spills can be cleaned with a paper towel, which is then placed in a safe area to allow the alcohol to evaporate before disposal. It should only be used in an area with excellent ventilation, in order to prevent the inhalation of fumes.
