Ring beams are a type of support used in construction to connect walls together and increase the load capacity for the walls. Ring beams surround the foundation, and walls are built upon the ring. In some projects, an additional ring beam is used on the top.
A lower ring beam is prepared before walls are erected. A ring beam to be used as a top support for a building is made and then connected to the top of the walls. A ring beam consists of concrete with reinforcing wire or metal rebar running the length and width of the beam.
