How to Get Rid of Kerosene Smell?
Dealing with unwanted kerosene odor is easy and inexpensive. Gather the necessary items: coffee grounds or baking soda, white vinegar and washing detergent or dish washing liquid. A vacuum or a clean cloth is also required.

Sprinkle a liberal amount of coffee grounds or baking soda on the affected area
This is possible if the area affected is a carpet, an upholstery or anything made of fabric. Let the coffee ground or baking soda sit for at least two hours and up to a few days, and then vacuum it. If this process doesn’t work, proceed to Step 2.

Clean the area with washing detergent or dish washing liquid
Using a clean cloth, wash the affected area with washing detergent or dish washing liquid in warm water. Rinse with cool water, and let it dry.

Remove remaining odor with white vinegar
Soak the affected fabric with a water and white vinegar mixture, or use a soaked cloth to wipe the affected area. You can also spray the mixture over the area. Rinse or wipe clean. Adding ammonia or eucalyptus oil to the mixture is optional.

Use fresh air and ventilation
Clean and let the affected area dry in an open space, if possible. If not, allow fresh air and ventilation to blow kerosene odor out. You may leave a bowl of coffee grounds or white vinegar around the affected area to continue to absorb any remaining odor.
