How Do I Get Rid of a Hickey Overnight?

To get rid of a hickey, apply pressure on the affected area to break up the blood collecting underneath it. Repeat this process several times until the hickey has subsided.

  1. Get a small object

Find a small, round, clean object such as a pen cap or a lipstick or lip balm cover. The object should be a half-inch in diameter.

  2. Press the object directly on the hickey

Using the object, apply firm and steady pressure to the affected area. Be careful not to damage the skin.

  3. Twist the object for a half or full turn

While maintaining pressure, turn the object so the affected skin twists around it. Try to achieve a half or full turn. Again, be careful not to damage the skin.

  4. Hold the twisted skin in place

Hold the twisted skin in place for 10 to 20 seconds, then release.

  5. Repeat the twisting process

Repeat the process of applying pressure and twisting the skin for 10- to 20-second intervals lasting a total of 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat the whole process several times throughout the day. To help relieve discomfort or redness resulting from the pressure, apply a cold cloth to the affected area for 10 minutes.
